5/3/2020 COVID-19 UPDATE

All church activities are currently cancelled.  Based on state recommendations, the Session has decided to wait a few more weeks before considering a return to services at the church.  The Session will continue to monitor the situation, but hopes to have services again on Decoration Day, Sunday, May 24, 2020.  Updates will be provided as that date approaches, and social distancing guidelines for church activities will also be shared.

All church activities are currently cancelled until further notice.  The Session will provide further information when it is available.

Dear Congregation and Friends of New Bethel,
After prayerful consideration the Session has voted to cancel Sunday morning services and other church activities until April 3, 2020.  In addition, Maundy Thursday Services scheduled for April 9, 2020 have been cancelled.
Other cancellations and notes are:
  • The Small Group Book Study will not meet until we are able to resume church activities.  Once we are able to meet again, we will pick up with Chapters 4 & 5 and we'll determine a new schedule for the rest of the study.
  • The Sock and Underwear drive will continue once we are able to worship together again.  At that point, we'll make an announcement about a new date for "Undie Sunday" and the dedication.
  • The choir's Easter Cantata will be cancelled as well, since rehearsals will not be possible.  While we still plan to have worship on Easter Sunday, there will be no Cantata this year.
As this COVID-19 situation evolves, we will continue to evaluate the church schedule and provide further updates.

We included an insert in last week’s bulletin providing guidance on Coronavirus (COVID-19). Copies are available in the Narthex for your reference.  The Session will continue to evaluate this evolving situation and take precautions as needed.  Any updates during the week will be communicated by email and will be posted on the church website.  At this time, we want to highlight the following:
  • Please stay at home if you are feeling ill or have a fever.  If you have symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19), please call your healthcare provider for testing.
  • If you feel at risk by attending worship, please stay at home.  Reach out to others in the church family if there are ways that we can support you during this time.
  • Hand sanitizers may be available at church but please bring your own if you have them.  Use hand sanitizers and wash your hands often.
  • Please maintain the recommended 3-foot social distance at all times.  For the time being, we will hold Sunday School and other small group activities in the Fellowship Hall so that attendees can maintain the appropriate distance.  Please refrain from hugs, handshakes or close contact of any kind.
  • For those attending worship in the sanctuary, please sit in alternate rows and maintain the recommended 3-foot social distance during the service.
  • We will discontinue the Passing of the Peace for the time being to help minimize close contact.
